December 2011 Wine Advocate on the 2009 Cairo Cabernet: It is a rich, sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon with gorgoues depth in its dark fruit. It shows lovely inner perfume and fabulous balance with fruit and tannin. Grilled herbs, cassis and mint add the final layers of complexity on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019 - Antonio Galloni October 2011 San Francisco Chronicle, Jon Bonne' on the 2009 Gamble Family Vineyards Gamble Vineyard Yountville Sauvignon Blanc ($28, 13.8%): Here's a snapshot of the quintessential Napa approach right now. Fruit from Tom Gamble's organically farmed 12-acre parcel is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in a mix of 70 percent barrels (mostly old) and 30 percent steel tanks. It's focused and tangy for that style, with aromas of stone, lemon peel and waxy pear. May 2011 Wine Enthusiast on the 2006 Family Home Cabernet. 93 Points. There’s a wild quality to the fruit, as if the blackberries and cherries were picked in some sunny hollow in a eucalyptus forest. The wine is streamlined and intense, with focused, chiseled tannins. Showing superb balance and an unerring sense of control, it should develop in the bottle over the next 8–10 years. May 2011 Wine Enthusiast on the 2006 Paramount Bordeaux Blend. 90 Points. This softly rich, smooth red wine is a blend of unidentified varieties. It’s intricately layered in blackberries, bacon, tobacco, mocha, sandalwood and spice flavors, wrapped into firm and gentle tannins. Drink now with rich fare. Steve Heimoff April 2011 Wine Enthusiast on the 2006 Old Vine Syrah. 93 Points. Meaty and leathery., with sweet, salty bacon notes meshing with intense wild blackberry fruit, this Syrah is delicious and sexy/ The tannins are wonderfully plush and refined, like Satin. It's perfect to drink now with short ribs or beef or any kind of beef or lamb stew. Editor's Choice.
